Hi,
I just received a letter from my husband. Asking me to call 1-888-882-2325 between 8am and 7pm central time M-F. He says that this is a special prepaid phone service for prisoner phone calls. I can give his prisoner number and prepay with a credit card or money order. Has anyone done this? Is it a scam? He says it comes "highly recommended".

I have never heard of it - is it just for your state?

luna: i would call the phone company that works with your husbands correctional facility before i gave my credit card # to anyone. a lot of the institutional phone service companies do have prepaid plans, but i would make sure that phone # belongs to one first!

Hi Luna, I was wondering if you found out anymore information about this matter and if it is legite? Please let me know, Thanks so much!
Federal prisons allow prisoners to buy pre-paid phone cards [similar to what we can purchase in the "free world"] w/"800" numbers but as far as I know this must be done from inside the prison and bought directly by the prisoner w/funds in their account. Maybe someone who has a loved one in a federal pen can share more about this.
I am aware there are a few states that were looking into the use of phone cards and/or "800" number calling but I'm not sure any State prison has begun to institute this process as of yet. You may want to look at the CURE national website [click on the eTc Campgaign icon] where they are keeping fairly accurate updates on various prisoner phone initiatives thruout the US. www.curenational.org
