Please note that PTO does not endorse or guarantee any of the services listed below.
The following details are provided purely for information.

The hotel that we suggest may be convenient for those attending the PTO National Conference 2009 is the Holiday Inn, Houston - Near the Galleria.

The hotel's website is here:

Holiday Inn, Houston (http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hotel/houwl?rpb=hotel&crUrl=/h/d/hi/1/en/hotelsearchresults)

Having checked the rates for the dates of the conference it would seem that rooms are between $80 and $125 per room, per night.

The best rates seem to be on an advance purchase basis, but even without the advance purchase they are still fairly reasonable.

Some of the rates include breakfast but you would do well to check, when you make your reservation, if that is included in your quote.

There is a bar and restaurant on-site. Room service is available from 6.00 am - 10 pm.

The hotel has a complimentary shuttle service that will take people within a three mile radius, this will cover the journey to the conference venue (https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/houwl-houston-marriott-west-loop-by-the-galleria/) for those who are without their own transportation.
The shuttle can also be used to reach The Galleria (http://www.simon.com/mall/default.aspx?ID=805) where there are hundreds of retail outlets, restaurants, coffee shops and even an ice-rink!

Other facilities at the hotel include:

Complimentary parking for registered guests.
On site fitness room
Guest laundry
Internet access
(small) Convenience store
ATM
Service Animals welcome
Non smoking rooms available
There are also other hotels in the area; we advise you to make a choice based on your budget and needs.

Please see this thread for those who wish to enter into a room share (http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=375914) with other members.

Update: We are in contact with the Holiday Inn to see if they can offer us any discount codes for these dates.
Info will be posted as soon as it is available.

Well, it seems that because we are not able to block book rooms at the Holiday Inn we cannot get a group rate.

Our advice is to reserve a room as early as possible to get the lowest rates.

Thanks,

Rachel

UPDATE: We now have a group rate with the Holiday Inn!!

We have arranged a room rate of $80 per room, per night (plus taxes).

To get this discount please call 713-961-1640 (Front Desk) to make a reservation and tell them that you are booking under the "Prison Talk Block Rate".
They should have all the details there and make your reservation accordingly.

If you have already booked, make sure that when you check in you tell the Front Desk that you are part of the Prison Talk Block Rate, and they should bill you in line with that.

If they are not sure what you are talking about, ask them to contact Miss Stallworth in their sales department. She is the lady who is dealing with all of our arrangements.
