My bf just violated his probation and is facing 4 years back up time due to an arguement that witnesses misconstrued and called the police about. He goes to court in the am and I spoke with his attorney tonight on the phone which confused me some. He said if the witness's dont show up its a good thing but if the two police that made the report 6 months ago show up than there might be an issue with what they say they reported happened and what I say happened. My question is: my bf is going in front of the judge for his probation violation hearing, not the actual domestic violence hearing. These are two different counties about 40 miles apart. What are the chances that either of the two cops would show up to court in the am. The county the actual case was filed in is a huge one and I know these cases have to take place several times a day. Are the policemen going to actually take time off to drive 40 miles to court to testify in court against my bf? Anybody have any clue?

Anything is possible, and none of us will have an answer for you. If they have a strong ethic against domestic violence in their department, then the cops might indeed come to testify at a trial. For a parole violation, the hearing might not even need their appearance, because a police report is enough to show negative police contact.

The other problem you have is that an argument that was so worrisome to others, and that the police actually arrested him for might be something you need to rethink. We in here know that actual hitting is the tail end of the process of domestic abuse - before that come intimidation, dissing, berating, and all sorts of controlling behavior that aren't hitting, pinching, spitting, or the other actual forms of physical abuse.

Might need to think about that, too.
