About This Series of Papers on RPI

The Office of Justice Programs of the federal Department of Justice has developed a series of system-wide reentry initiatives that focus on reducing the recidivism of offenders. The initiatives include: 1) Reentry Partnership Initiatives (RPI) which includes formation of a partnership between criminal justice, social service, and community groups to develop and implement a reentry process; 2) Reentry Courts which are modified drug courts that focused on the ex-inmate; and 3) Weed and Seed-based reentry partnerships. The RPI and Reentry Courts are demonstration efforts that do not include any funding for programming; OJP has provided technical assistance to the eight RPI sites and nine Reentry Court sites. This paper is part of a series on system efforts to address the problem of offenders returning to communities after periods of incarceration.

I scanned over this [will really read when not so tired] as well as I think the intentions are in the right place I think there needs to be something[research]done that is more reader friendly to those that will benefit from it, this appears to be written from the point of covering "their" hinnies ... as I go through it I will attempt to pull from it what I think will be of use in our "coming home" forum. Hey, if we can make their work, work for us, all the better :D
Thanks for putting this up

I'm eager to see what it is that "appears to be written from the point of covering "their" hinnies .. ". I didn't feel that way. But then, I wasn't thinking of this being used as any type of reference material....I just thought it was an article that really interested me so I thought maybe someone else would enjoy it also. Let me know what you come up with!

Hi cheena!

Was wondering the forums and came across this post from awhile back. Did you ever get the chance to go through it like you wanted? If so, I was just curious what your thoughts were after reading it again. Did you post anything from it in the coming home forum as you mentioned you might? (I know I can go look myself but I need to spend as much time elsewhere trying to help my older son right now). I like reading what every/anyone think about anything I say or post as it gives me perspectives I may never think of myself. Thanks, Teri
