Hey,
I am new to the workings of the prison system. My boyfriend is at California Institute for men in Chino. What is the reception center process like there. He is awaiting his revocation hearing. I haven't heard from him since he left West Valley Detention center last Tuesday. He could be violated for something that he did not do. How do I go about contacting the board of prison terms so that my comments can be heard. Is there really any defense for him if he is innocent of the allegations against. The district attorney dropped all charges against him, but he is still in custody. Please, someone help me!

Hello,
First off I want to say that I know what you are going thru. I was in your shoes about 4 months ago. My finace got arrested on his way home from work, for a violation. Neither of us knew what was going on, especially since he was only 1 week away from discharging, and he had not been involoved with anything. Turns out they found a picture with him and a friend of the past (taken 2 years) ago, that was enough to arrest him since the person in the picture was a named gang member. My finace had a good job for three years, tested clean, bought a car, and was in the process of buying a condo. They dont take any of that into consideration. They arrested him and he got 9 months flat time. We are now 4 into his sentence. Its a hard pill to swallow. I just want to prepare you.
What can you do? Start with calling his parole agent. BE VERY CAREFUL what you say, because they will twist it if they can. Try to speak highly of him and also you can ask family members to call and leave messages with the parole officer on his behalf. She/He might still be able to drop the parole hold and release him if they decide he is innocent. Ask what the violation is for, and see if you can get any specifics on a court date ect. If they dont drop the hold, tell your BF not to accept their first offer, and to take the hearing. Then he will be able to supena you. At that time, you can speak on his behalf and gather letters from friends and family for the judge to read at his hearing. Any/All info from jobs, bank, church, ect that you can get for him will help during the hearing.
Im sorry you have to go thru this, but I wish you luck

Thank you for the info. I have talk to his parole officer on many occassions. His parole officer has told me that my boyfriend was handling all of his business, but he also said that this was out of his hands. A female that my boyfriend and I know made some serious accusations a couple of weeks ago. She then tells me over the phone that she is doing this to get back at me because of an incident that occurred between her and myself. She flat out tells me that she is lying. My boyfriends parole agent says that her word alone enough. There is no other evidence, except for myself and my boyfriend. It still sounds like that won't matter, even though I know she is lying. She has done then type of thing in the past, and she spent time in a mental institution. This is so unfair.
