MAN, DO I HAVE BAD LUCK OR WHAT?. FIRST THE PROBLEM WITH THE VISITING APPLICATION, THOSE OF YOU THAT READ MY LAST THREAD KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. FINALLY WHEN I GET SOMEONE TO LET ME USE THEIR CAR TO GO VISIT MY HONEY AT PRISON, AND I CALL TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, AND THEY TELL ME IS ON LOCKDOWN DUE TO AN ESCAPE. IM SO BUMMED OUT I FEEL LIKE CRYING OUT LOAD. I HOPE THEY LET ME VISIT THIS SATURDAY, THAT WILL BE MY ONLY CHANCE TO SEE MY MAN BEFOR X-MAS. I WANT TO TAKE OUR SON FOR HIM TO MEET FOR THE FIRST TIME. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY INFO ON THIS LOCKDOWN AT AVENAL PLEASE HELP, THANKS.:mad:

My husband is there too, and all I've been told is that the lockdown is due to an escape. The prison was unable to tell me how long they thought this would go on for. Your best bet would be to call 800-374-8474 in the mornings to see about the lockdown status, that is the number that I was given, it gives a recorded message about visiting status.

Yes, they have been on lock down since last Wednesday because of an inmate that disappeared from his work program. They will be on a modify program (NO VISITS), 'til they determine if he is still on the grounds and how he escaped.

Call the 800-374-8474 visiting information line the morning before your visit.

They don't know how long this will be in effect.
So let's hope and pray for the best!

Avenal is off lock down!! Make sure to call the CDC visiting line the day before your visit, just to make sure.

But, I'm wondering? I just called the visiting line and I guess it's not updated, right, because it still says that Avenal is still on lockdown? Melly, do you happen to have the CDC visiting line handy? Perhaps I'm dialing incorrect one (the 800 #)...

The number is 800-374-8474. They have not changed the message. I called the main prison number yesterday and they told me that they were not on lock down as of midnight 12/9.

If they don't change that message on the visiting hotline, before my visit on Saturday, I'm going to call them again and ask if visits are happening.

I hope no one has a loved one on yards 3 and 4. As of today, they still do not have visits. All other yards are okay.

all of the yards are off lockdown just in case anyone didn't know...but i heard that visiting is still off and on so for those of you that have long drives like myself i would wait it out and go next week...
