Okay, I know I can send Travis a necklace with a symbol relating to his chosen religion, but does anyone know the rules about it? Like how big it can be or do I send it directly to him or to the pastor, his classification officer or who? I called over there, and all they did was send me in circle for over thirty minutes...HELP!!!:(

From experience i know it has to be sent to the chaplain with prior approval

He will have to submit a request to the chaplain. The chain and charm cannot be worth more than $25 and must be sent from the store/vendor. You could ask in a pawn shop or jewlery store for them to give you a reciept stating that it cost less. You can also ask them for a return address lable so you can send it as if it was from then.

Great idea! Thanks Bella. I just spoke with the chaplain, and he said it had to be less than $50, no more than 2 inches long (the charm itself), and it has to be a think breakable chain, plus I have to have it sent from wherever with the receipt...Thanks ya'll=)

I'm glad I saw this post. My man asked me for a necklace and cross and wasn't sure how I could send it or even if I could. Thanks!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! :)

I'm glad they up-ed it to $50. $25 was so unrealistic! Not that anyone could actually buy a chain and charm for $50 bucks and is 14k gold...sheesh

Thanks for this info I am so happy I was able to send my husband a beautiful crucifix (he knew he was allowed to receive it, he just didnt tell me). I confirmed with the chaplain the dimensions and the cost, but he said I should mail it direct to my husband and it would be sent to property for him to collect. I felt good knowing I could send him something nice for Christmas.
