During the marriage to my former husband my only sister begged me to leave him, she was full of all kinds of advice. It still rings in my head " Tonya he's gonna kill you if you keep staying". She didn't take her own advice, at 12:11 a.m. on July 28, 2002 Debbie was taken off life support and she pass within minites. My mom and I lived 1 hour away from he and when a call came in from her mom set out for Alabama. Once mom arrived she found debbie lying on the couch unconcious and covered in aunts, her boyfriend and his 2 buddies were not concerned and left for a cookout. Mom is a R.N. and seen the signs of distress in her breathing and called 911. Debbie had been beat braindead.

All we can do is be supportive of the abuse victims and be there when needed. One never knows how co-dependent we are of the abusers.

I'm so very very sorry! With abuse, it's so much easier to see it happening to someone else but we don't realize how bad it is for ourselves. It's part of the psychological effects of abuse.

You and your family will be in my prayers. I wish there were more I could say or do. I hope you find that the abuser has to pay for his terrible crime.
