My former roommate has been incarcerated and she wrote me, but she wrote me from County jail before being transferred. I moved and I've been having trouble getting my mail forwarded. I know she probably wrote me and the letters were sent back. How do I find out her dorm number or let her know I am looking for her? I don't want her to think I up and moved and am trying to avoid her. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You can look under Alabama Department Corrections to see where she was moved, look under imates incarcerated search and put in her name or AIS#. http://www.doc.state.al.us/inmatesearch.asp
They update it on Fridays, then call and find out the dorm #.
If you get all that then write and give her your new address. Hope this helps you out.
Good Luck.

I would try calling the warden's office and explain the situation. If you know her AIS# and are nice to them, they probably will tell you the dorm. I have made calls to the business office, the warden's office and the visitation office and have been very, very nice. I have also called the main gate on a weekend and they have been helpful, too. Keep trying, your friend needs to hear from you. Don't give up.

I am in a similar situation. A friend I worked with for two years has been incarcerated in Tutwiler. I lost touch with her and did not find out till recently. The only family she has is her aged Grandmother whom I don't know personally. I would like to send her just a postcard to let her know she isn't completely forgotten by the outside world.
