Does anyone have a love one in system who has recently gotten a ser-all, then a few months later sent to pre-release. My son recently got a serve -all and he states that some of the guys in his unit were given serve alls and some just got sent to a pre-release unit.

also, how many of you that have received a serve-all made it on the prd. And how many had to serve the entire sentence? Sorry I'm long winded I had a bad nite thinking of these many things. Thanks to all for sharing with me.

My husband got a serve-all almost a year ago on a ten year sentence, he is a trustee gone by the books and BAM a serve-all. His PRD is 08/21/04 but I really don't look for him to be released. He is in for DWI. Texas claims to be broke, they aren't broke I feel it is just another way the treat the inmates bad and get away with it. Just my 2 cents.

we were an exception to the rule.....Skip's sentence was 2 years....they basically started him in the parole process the minute he went in because of the shorter sentence.

He was denied on the 1st round vote...and given a serve all to his PRD. They then moved him to a Pre-Release Parole facility and he was approved for discretionary mandatory supervision on the 2nd round vote....he's been home almost 3 months. He also got a line-class promotion in between the moves, and his PRD moved UP. The serve all date(if given to the PRD date) will follow any promotions. His original outdate was Oct 2004, but he was home before the end of September because of the promotion.

There are so many factors involved....sentence length, offense etc. I don't mind telling you what we experienced, but I never want to get anyone's hopes up either. We were in for DWI.

YES I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS THAT INFORMATION. I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE IF HE WAS GIVEN A SERVE ALL BUT HE WAS SENTENCED TO 2YRS AND HE GOT TIME SERVE OF 7MONTHS FROM A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. SO I TOO AM WONDERING IF HE WILL GET OUT EARLY BECAUSE HE IS IN A PRE-RELEASE UNIT.
SO RIGHT NOW ALL I HAVE IS PRAYER ON MY SIDE AND I WILL BE DOING THE SAME FOR YOU.

One other thing I was told....they move offenders to pre-release facilities if they are 6 months to a year from release. They will tell you this, but Skip attested to the fact that there were guys that had been over at Mineral Wells MUCH longer than that.....

Have you checked with review/release or the parole OMBUDSMAN to see where his file stands?

Review/release 512-406-5812
Parole OMBUDSMAN 512-406-5795

Let us kwow what you find out!

We are one of those weird situations, too. My friend was moved to trusty status, then sent to MW PR, then denied parole and given serve-all to 6/04. His next review should be in March, from what I understand, and he thinks his serve-all date will be bumped to 5/04 due to promotion.

This stuff is so confusing!!

And yeah, he said that his roomie at MW has been there for 2 years. So that adds to the confusion - why keep someone in PR for so long??

Wish I could help more, but I'm lost in this whole thing, too!

A unit with pre-release in the name does not mean what it did in years gone past...now all it means is that there was a bed there when the agency needed to make some moves. Those that go to the facility are likely within a year of the PRD and the Institutional Division viewed them as a relatively low security risk. Nothing more than that should be read into a placement at Mineral Wells or similar facility...
