View Full Version : question regarding my son
dmorales 10-08-2008, 01:41 PM My son was in los padrinos juvenile hall in Ca. The staff members were harrassing his since he has been there. he was there for about 20 days when a staff member kicked him in the face while sitting on the floor in the office, while another staff member watched him do it. I already filed a complaint, and sent a letter to the attorney general, and I'm trying to find out, wheather it's going to be over looked or is there something I could do. Because if any parent did something like that would be considered child abuse, and for a staff member to get away with it is discraceful.

dmorales,
I'm sorry to hear about your son:( Be sure to contact the lead superintendent I believe it's Cheryl Cooke also try Danny Aceves who is the assitant superintendent ( I believe they are still there) That's a disgraceful and they should be dealt with. Good luck sweetie.
HIS_MAMMAZ 10-08-2008, 04:25 PM you Can Always Contact The Media And Make It A Big Deal, My Brother In Law Was There And Told Me About Some Kids With Similar Situation, You Never Know You Might Help Other Kids... I Think Its Different For Every Child, Because Back In The Days When I Was There They Were Okay With Us, But Now I'm Hearing Some Stories.
My Advise Is To Push It, And Do All You Can Do, You Need To Be Heard By All Means... Wish You The Best Of Luck

Also, was your son seen by the clinic for his injury??? A nurse will go into the unit everyday so he definitely would have had a chance to let her know about his injury even if the staff did not turn a medical request slip if he filled one out. If he was seen by the clinic for his injury that's even better for your case.
dmorales 10-14-2008, 05:11 PM He was never seen by a nurse. he asked that day. I seen thim the day after(Sunday)
And I also made the complaint on Monday Sept 29 And the superintendant also told me that he was going to be seen by a nurse, and he never did. The staff that did it was even still working in the unit. By Friday they had transfered him to another juvenile hall in hopes I guess that I would go away. But I still call and ask for the status. I don't know what else to do.
mariarios2004 10-14-2008, 07:18 PM my baby was there for 3 months (recently) and i heard horror stories! i say go down there in person and make waves about this situation. then u start searching the internet for higher ppl u can contact. and dont stop buging until u feel justified or at least get this case aknowledged.
dmorales 10-14-2008, 08:41 PM Thanks, but I just talked to the investigation Dept there, and unfortunately they can't do anything about it. The reason being is by the time they finally sent my son to the nurse (3 days later) she said that there was no visible marks on him, and the other staff member that watched it happen, she said that there was nothing like that going on. Crooked ass people sticking up for their friends, i can't stand people like that. and just because she wanted to stick him up, they have nothing to go by. And heaven for bid any one of us parents ever does anything like that, we would go to jail, and any of the inmates find out what you did, they would also beat you up too. It's totally hopeless with a jack up system, now I know why they say no cell phone in there, they are not afraid of inmates making phone calls, they are afraid that we might just care about our child and take a picture of something wrong that they did.
Contact the people listed below with your complaint. Hopefully you have the names of the staff members and there are other complaints issued against them, which could prove your case.

Farrell v. Allen - led a team of more than 20 lawyers in litigation against the California Youth Authority. Wards of the State were being subjected to beatings, forced medication, rapes, gang violence, solitary confinement for months at a time and imprisonment in dog-kennel-type cages. In 2005, the State of California agreed to a consent decree to comprehensively reform the Youth Authority. Mr. Ulmer continues to lead a team of six Latham attorneys in ongoing litigation to improve the lives of teenagers confined in county juvenile halls across California. Investigations have uncovered conditions mirroring those found in the Youth Authority, including excess use of force, solitary confinement for months at a time and lack of medical and mental health treatment. Lawsuits were filed against the San Joaquin County Juvenile Hall in Stockton, California, as well as the state's watchdog agency, the Corrections Standards Authority (CSA), for failing to enforce minimum standards in the county juvenile halls. In 2008, both San Joaquin County and the CSA agreed to Consent Decrees to improve conditions in the juvenile halls.
