View Full Version : Michigan DOC website
snowdancer 08-20-2002, 06:40 PM I thought I would post this here. I know you regulars are familiar with it, but thought it may be helpful to new people. I hope I don't get in trouble for posting it...
http://www.michigan.gov/corrections
So far though the information given on the site.. has been inaccurate as far as the intake information...
For example it says they can make collect calls (they can't). They get to go to the rec yard for 1 hour a day (they can't) and they get to use the library (they can't)...
It also says they can have pictures but they sent all my sons back...
Have a good one!
Hugs...
Jodi
When you say intake, is that receptions? When my b/f was in receptions, he was allowed in the yard 3 times a day, an hour each time. He was also allowed to make phone calls, but he had to wait quite a while before his phone list went through. If you are not talking about receptions, then I apologize! :)
Carisa 08-20-2002, 09:26 PM Hi! Hope all you Michigan folks are doing good! :)
That was a good idea to post that, Jodi. It will give new people a place to start at least when looking for info. I agree with you about taking what's on there with a grain of salt--it never even mentions that a receptions center exists in Marquette! And there's no library at Jackson either. Jackson does give them an hour of yard though, and and they have access to phones during that time, but the wait in line is so long they might spend the hour waiting and never get to make a call.
Jeni--You're right, intake and receptions mean the same thing!
snowdancer 08-21-2002, 07:34 AM Hi Jeni,
Yes, I was referring to "receptions"... LOL... Welcome to prison.. right!
Hope everyone is having a good day today
Hugs,
Jodi
sanddollar 11-07-2002, 11:00 AM Hi,
There are general guidelines that DOC is supposed to follow, but each facility has its own specific rules beyond those guidelines. My experiences are based on California's system. My girlfriend was able to make collect calls at one of the facilities she was previously at. However, she cannot make phone call where she currently incarcerated. I have noticed that security procedures for clearing visitors varies from prison to prison. Even visitation hours can vary from one facility to another.
Some of the rules stated on the website may be taylored to a different facility and may not completely apply to the facility where you loved one is located.
B-Ray 11-07-2002, 03:34 PM Sanddollar, your experience's with the CA system would be helpful in the CA forum, such as when, where & how in reguards to phone call's ect. that you have first hand information with.
Most new people coming to PTO, will find there State forum quickly.
ewhited 02-27-2005, 12:31 AM There is alot of different things about the Michigan facilities. They stink. One of the posters, placed a url for the michigan doc. that is legal. it is a legal site, to where you can find out anything about your loved one. i check it regularly to make sure my man is not into trouble, and is keeping himself (edited by moderator, please review PTO Language policy) out of trouble. They can make phone calls, it does take a while to get a phone number placed on a phone list. It took Gary 3 months to get phone numbers on his list. No its not right, but they do that to them. Any one else out there with someone at Florence Crane in Coldwater, pm me, you can also contact me at *e-mail address removed per pto policies. please pm this member*
