Geez. Tough.. You must have some huge muscles... Elephant Poop must weigh a LOT :D

I work in a crisis home for the mentally ill. Prior to that I worked as a direct care staff in a state psychiatric hospital. Working with the mentally ill can be rewarding when you see them get better, but when they come in and have not taken care of themselves, both mentally and physically it can be pretty challenging.

I think the worst I ever had was a woman who had not bathed or combed her hair in over 8 months. We had to actually restrain her in a shower chair to get her clean. Thankfully I always kept a change of clothes at work..... I got just as wet as she did because it took 2 of us well over an hour to get her bathed then another 2 hours to get her hair combed. We ended up having to cut about 8 inches off her hair at the ends because it was so tangled and matted. I hated to do that, but there was no other way.

Its kind of funny - when I retired from state service last year I knew I would want to work part time but I said I would NEVER work with the mentally ill again... and here I am a year later, doing exactly that :D

well, i have only had a total of 2 jobs.

out of the 2, the 1st was just nasty nasty nasty.

i got a job @ this thai resturaunt..which was cool cause she also made OTHER dishes and the food was actually real good. anyways, so i remember 1 time, i went into the back where she cooked the food, and she didnt realize i was standing in the doorway & i saw her drop a piece of UNCOOKED chicken on the dirty floor (the floor was disgusting) she then picked the chicken up (bear hands and all), and thew the chicken that fell onto the floor--she threw it into the frypan. and fried up this chicken. nasty huh? lol

well, needless to say after that, i quit..and my 2nd job was at a pharmacy...

but, mrsd...8 months w/o a shower or brushing her hair. i bet she had some nasty dreds...wow. well, hey at least your doing a job that you enjoy. :)

Haha - talking about nasty reseraunts. I used to work at Denny's by my house (now closed for sanitation reasons) and one evening my best friend and I were there having dinner, as she worked there as well. One of the customers was being a witch to the waitress, another friend of ours, so Tricia and I went to go talk to the cook and we had him wipe his sweat off on the hamburger bun and so he did. He even stepped on it before putting it onto her sandwich. Tricia and I sat back and watched LOL! She will never know! It was funny, but she was a witch so she deserved it.

Anyway, I don't have a job right now expect as a reporter for the school paper. And, yes, it can be disgusting. I had to do an article on how dirty the restrooms were getting because the maintenance people were not always doing their job. Not the housekeeping, mind you, they did a great job. But there was one toilet that always overflowed and no matter how much we told the maitenance men they wouldn't do anything about it until we wrote the article. Now it's all freshly taken care of and checked on a weekly basis. Ahh, the power of writing.
