Hi everyone. Im new at this, so please bear with me. I have a question regarding a lawyer that is doing my husbands appeal of Writ Of Habeas Corpus. We hired this lawyer "4" years ago, and this lawyer has done nothing yet. I sent him certified letters with a time that I wanted him to respond to me, and he responded on my second letter, saying that he still has to do more searching threw his case. And that my husband is at the Arizona border, and he is in Los Angeles County, making it hard for him to take a day off and visit with him. What should I do?? Im tired of his excuses. I tried to wait and give this man some time. I have the Bar Association complaint form. Should I send it in now? What should I say? I sent this lawyer a E-mail Sunday 08-18-02, and as of today no response. PLEASE HELP!!!

Please, Do Not continue with this guy... Is he Court Appointed. You will go to court and nothing will happen... Try to find another attorney.
God Bless You

I agree with Budwoman...he works for you. You wouldn't tolerate this behavior from an employee nor would your employer tolerate it from you.

I sure hope you haven't given him a lot of money!! I would have dumped him in the first six months if he hadn't done anything. Monica is right! He works for you, not vise versa. Hope you find a better one than this. Try some of the sites listed in the other threads under legal advice. I'm pretty sure I saw some websites posted that may be able to assist. Best of luck and God bless!

Danni,
Welcome to PTO. Is your husband at Ironwood, Or Chuckawalla? I would see about getting another lawyer. Why does he need to see your husband in person. He can have an assistant do it, he can accept a collect call, he can communicate through the mail. There ia absolutely no reason for not communicating. Appeals have to be filed in a timely manner, & then followed up on in a timely manner, so you don't need someone who's going to blow it off.
Good luck & take care.----------Ken
