Look up the prison's web site and see what the guidlines are about sending money. You will want to send an international money order in US dollars.

Be sure to keep your copy of the money order and find out how you can tract it by phone or the internet.

I hope this helps!

Correct B-Ray. In addition to that, you will make the money order out to the inmates name with his B.O.P. Registration number next to his name. The BOP will then put it directly into his trust fund. They only took money orders where I was at. I don't know what you can get your hands on at the Banks there but something like American Express if it is available. Like B-Ray said, call the prison to make sure.
You might also get some info of the BOP's site.

Where my husband is, you can also send funds via western union. Don't know about the facility you are talking about, but it might be worth a shot.

bop number I"m not familiar with but when you write him letters do you have to put a number next to his name? His "inmate" number I guess you could say. I know that I have to put that on all the letters and money orders I send otherwise his mail won't get to him, but my friend is in state, not federal, so it might be different.

The "inmate number" will speed things up. If they have to look it up, who know when someone will deside to do it?

I'm pretty sure you can send the money order directly to him. They check all incoming mail and open it. If a money order is in, it will go to the records department where it is deposited into his account! Hope all this information that is posted here helps.

I think that is a wonderful and great surprise for Eddie!

Pamela, that might be so in some States.

I know that money orders go to a different address in NV and FL! NV has an online deposit form that must be used. FL has a form that you must request from DOC (special ink). I've used both.

Sabine, I wish I would read this sooner and I am so sorry. My mom's friends' grandson is in Lompoc. What you need to do is get a money order and put his name on it first and last and his inmate number and your address. Make sure you keep a copy(receipt) of the money order. It will go to him for him to put on his books. If this doesn't work let me know and I will try and figure out away for you to get it to him.
