i just received a letter from my son inside the stiles unit today...he wants to thank all of you who have called or written on their behalf regarding the lack of communication, commissary, water, elec, and evacuation. he did what i reminded him to do about saving/storing water, which really eased some of my worries. and he passed this information to all that he could about preparing themselves for hurricane ike. he said he is taking bird bath showers with clean drinking water, as the water coming out of the toilets and tap are a little funky with some weird little things floating around. so he dos'ent trust the water to drink or shower in just yet. also, he said "i don't know who you talked to mom, but as soon as the electric came on over here, they shot us right over to commissary!" that made me feel pretty good, because i know there is power amongst us if we all pull together. thanks again to all of you who made the necessary calls to get some of their basic rights heard.........pam

I am glad that there is some relief in the Texas prison System. When I was on Hightower during Rita, we lost power for a week. Fortunately the Federal Gov't. brought water in barrels and ice for us. We had hot meals the day after it passed but they actually were comforting and understanding. Thanks for the post and I hope that he is doing well.
