Word is that a bunch of inmates refused to put their trays down and leave the chow hall when told to do so. Institution put on lockdown. Call before visiting.

Does anyone know if they're still on lockdown?:(

I'm answering my own question. I called McCreary and as of 3:35 PM CST they are still on lockdown.

Hey all, I heard from my brother in law this morning and again this evening, they were off lockdown. He did not know what the lockdown was about but said they were interviewing everyone and he refused to be interviewed. This is another lockdown that happened before a weekend visit. I am just glad that they are off. They are supposed to be getting a new warden that is more geared toward USPs (allegedly the one that is at Big Sandy is supposed to go there.). Things will change once that happens. All my brother in law wants is microwave on the blocks, they do not have it so eating food when you are on a special diet is a hassle. Hope this helps.

The paper says the warden at Big Sandy is going to Atwater.

What kind of special diet is he on?

He had a stroke in the hole about three years ago (he is only 30). So he avoids meat except chicken and fish. Avoids fried and lots of veggies. He is able to make alot of things in the microwave with tuna. He just likes to steam the veggies in the microwave and now he can't. Hope they get micros soon cause he has already lost 25 pounds since getting there.

You've heard of the common fare diet? That's vegetarian or mostly vegetarian and very healthy. You may have to go to the chaplin to get it.

But actually the BOP offers vegan and vegetarian diets so he should choose one of those.

I got a letter from my son dated 9/29 and he says USP McCreary is still locked down. If anyone goes to visit, please call first to make sure they aren't on lockdown.

Hi All - I spoke with my brother-in-law and his cellie last night, they have been off lockdown the past two days. I did not talk much to see why they on it but I do know that there was a fight between people from NYC and Los Angeles. Now that they are at capacity they are moving many out to FCIs to bring in or have more room for the ones that need to be in USPs. New warden due soon and they heard it might be a woman. Guess we just have to stay strong and with our heads up for them.
