Hi Everyone, My son is in the LeBlance Unit in Beaumont Texas. I received a very distraught letter from him on 9-19-08 that had been written on 9-14-08. They had just been in formed that the water was unsafe to drink. We all hear of the boil water warnings that were issued and were lifted for Beaumont Saturday 9-21-08 at 7:30pm. Of course my concern was the inmates drinking water at the time. Now I want to know why these men were left in the Beaumont prison when Beaumont was under a Mandatory Evacuation ????? Who is the responsibly part that decided they ( The Inmates) did not need evacuated ????? Help me with suggestions. This mistake never needs to be allowed to be repeated.

Check out the threat on TDCJ ombuds man...a little down on this page! Maybe you can call there and they would be able to help you!
Good luck and all the best to your son- and to you of course:thumbsup:

yes, i know the feeling......this makes the 4th hurricane my son has gone through since being at the stiles unit. the worst one was rita a few years ago, and this one ranks right along side rita i think. i have posted various places to call or write to voice a complaint about the inmates being housed in a location where the governor has said to get out or face certain death. certainly being without drinking water for a few days ranks somewhere in human rights being violated. we need to speak up for these people, because no one else will. call....human rights society, ombudsman at tdcj, gray panthers, your CONGRESSMAN. anyone you can think of that will take a stand and get results for our people incarcerated in those affected areas.....pam
