Hi there, My husband has finally made it out of reception and is at Avenal now. I have sent in our marriage certifcate so we may have family visits but my husband is having trouble finding out much else. His counsellor won't give him the time of day never mind an answer. UGH! If anyone has a husband at avenal and gets fam visits I'd love to know if they are available Weekdays (as my days off are monday-tuesday) and how long they are etc....

Hi Lorie Welcome to PTO !

Your Husband needs to get a family visit request form from the counsuler that he cant get a hold of. You can also call the Family Visiting Officer and get details for Avenal directly.

Your Marriage Certificate must be in his central file first. It has to be a certified original. Family Visits are for a duration of 43 hours, and are scheduled all week long, so yes week days are available. You can get a family visit every 90 days- It depends on how many visits are scheduled, ect.. Some have to wait 100-110 days for their next visit.
