Just curious if a person with an addiction ..if he/she overcomes the addiction then is it possible they will change ?

It's a little more likely. Not a lot, though. . . most of the time abusers have an addiction, but if they do overcome it, they still abuse. I do get the impression that meth addicts are more likely to be able to manage it, especially if it was a only a single incident, but I've got no statistics to back that up.

My ex has an addiction to prescription pain medications. I fully believe that if he were to ever get over this addiction - he would not change his abusive behavior because his abusive behavior was there before the addiction was. The addiction has just increased the abuse!
