Well...I am back from the hearing. Things didn't go as we had hoped. The hearing officer was a real bitch! She was a smart ass from the beginning. And when she asked me if I had anything to say and I started to speak the kept interrupting me and got really rude. She said....I'm not going to argue with you! I wasn't trying to argue...I was trying to speak on his behalf! Sam had completed a drug and alcohol program and she said she wasn't even going to recognize it. She recommened he be put off another year to go through another drug and alcohol program....and his charge isn't even drug related!!!!! What the hell?! He has never even failed a drug test in there! Then she said his job plan isn't good enough and that she would not even approve his home plan! Said he will NEVER be allowed to live with me on parole unless we are married. When I tried to explain to her that we have every intentions on getting married and was trying to tell her we had turned in request to be married while he is there...that's when she cut me off saying she would not argue with me. When it was over they immediately rushed me out the door. They treated him like he was an animal and like he might explode. When he first came into the room, after looking him up and down, she made him scoot his chair back to be further away from her. The chair was where THEY had put it and where every other inmate had sat. He is a big guy but my god...she acted like she thought he was going to attack her! He never acted violent or intimidating one time! He was quite and very polite. The problem with her is she is a victim. She has been raped before and I don't know if maybe Sam resembled the guy that raped her or what. I could see it if he was charged with rape but he wasn't! He was charged with agg. assult from a fight he got in where he had got stabbed and was defending himself! She sure wasn't fair at all. She didn't want to hear anything anyone had to say. I am soo upset and so is Sam. This was just her recommendation though. Now it goes to Nashville and the board will vote on it. Maybe they will see things differently. He says he don't think he can go through this parole stuff again and he wants to just flatten and be done with it. I can't blame him. If he does it will only be a yr and a half to two yrs before he his done. Then he won't have to worry about any of their crap! Well, I'm going to go sulk now.

Angel,

I am sorry to here that you two were put through this.

He may have a point, I know up to two years seems long (seems, heck, it is) but it might not be a bad idea to run it out to the end, so the state has no hold.

I really don't know what I would do, but if I had alot less than the six years probation I have, but that would be an option.

Hang in there.

Geez, sounds like a rough hearing. Its all a control trip. I know how frustrating it is when you are just trying to get your point across and it could matter less to the person your talking to. Sounds like a real witch. Of course Witch starts with a "B", but anyhow. I'm sorry to hear it didnt go as well as hoped, but like you said, maybe Nashville will see things differently. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. Yes, it is horrible. And I am soo depressed. I tried not to get my hopes up but I couldn't help it. Everybody seemed to think he would get it. I mean he hasn't gotten a write up in 18 months. He is at his RED date, he had several letters of support including one from my friend who is the supervisor over the grand jury department, a public servant and a deputy sherrif reserve. He also had a letter from his counslor in his support. He had completed anger management classes and that Drug and Alcohol class. He had a job and home plan AND his unit manager personally showed up and spoke on his behalf. So geez....what else do they want? I still can't believe it. I am so down. Now he wants to flat which means it will be even longer but like I said....I really can't blame him. I mean...I don't understand why we don't deserve to be happy. This sux.
