View Full Version : hurricane hotline working? marietx 09-14-2008, 09:05 AM I've been trying to call the TDCJ hurricane hotline for the last hour....keep getting a busy signal. Do you know if its working and just busy, or if maybe its not working?? number one son 09-14-2008, 09:26 AM i'm assuming its busy. i've been trying to get through since yesterday morning. fema and red cross used to give information on help going to the prisons, but apparently they are'nt allowed to do that now. marietx 09-14-2008, 09:29 AM this is really frustrating. I can't reach the unit or the hotline. I know they must be overwhelmed with calls, but isn't that what a hotline is for? To give information? Why isn't there one person at each unit responsible for updating the hotline...and enough lines to get through to the hotline? phanks 09-14-2008, 10:16 AM My son is in an affected area as well...I am worried but then what if they do tell me there is no electricity and it is flooded...Nothing I (we) can do about it except now Know what they are going through and worry all the more. It really sucks but they are going to do what they are going to do. Just like our loved ones incarcerated, they were going to do what they were going to do, despite how hard we tried to get them to see where they were headed and what they were in for. I'm just waiting to hear from him and pray that he is alright. justthemom 09-14-2008, 01:10 PM I called the hotline number late yesterday afternoon. & was surprised that I got right through. I was told that Holliday Unit had fared well. Huntsville had some power outage & that Holliday has quite a few generators. Wish I had more to tell. Justthemom marietx 09-14-2008, 02:35 PM glad you got through! i've still been unsuccessful but going to keep trying. I know all is probably fine (and you are right--what am I going to do if it isn't??) but I just need to know what he's dealing with. Makes me so grateful we will have phones sometime in the next year! What I would do for even a 30-second phone call right now just for him to tell me he's ok! gypsysmagician 09-14-2008, 05:58 PM I got through 5 minutes ago at first try. shonswifey 09-14-2008, 06:18 PM Just called and asked the conditions of the Ramsey Unit not very informative, I inquired about power loss and she stated well they have generators in all the places they had before. I don't know where they had generators before... I sure hope they are ok. Anyone with any news on Ramsey or other prisons in Rosharon..please post Thanks!! Tammy99 09-14-2008, 06:39 PM When they evacuate certain facilities and move the inmates into new prisons, are they all on lockdown? Do all inmates still get a bed or do some end up on mattresses on the floor? Do they still get hot meals and exercise? showers? romantic 09-17-2008, 06:55 PM 500 inmates evacuated to Eastham Unit in Lovelady Texas. The unit is under lockdown and has experienced a power outage, and no water. romantic 09-17-2008, 06:56 PM Just called and asked the conditions of the Ramsey Unit not very informative, I inquired about power loss and she stated well they have generators in all the places they had before. I don't know where they had generators before... I sure hope they are ok. Anyone with any news on Ramsey or other prisons in Rosharon..please post Thanks!! Ramsey Unit in Rosharon is not that far from me. From what I know they are operating on generators because most of that area experienced a power outage. They might have power now but last time I checked they were still operating on generators. |
