The Island is evacuated yet 1000 inmates remain in the jail??? KHOU news just reported this at 2pm, are they crazy it's already real bad flooding and s__t!!! and Ike has not even hit land yet...Shameful.:angry:

I can NOT believe they are not getting these people out of there!!

I hope like hell the families of these inmates SUE THE LIFE out of these officials that made THIS decision! UGH!! This makes me so damned ANGRY!!!!!

I'm nauseous after reading those very informative links. I am so worried about my husband...Lord let them be ok.

My bf is at Ramsey, too. I called on Saturday and they said there was not flooding and the building was ok, but they were running on a generator. Until I can talk to him, I won't feel better. We are not going to hear how it really was from TDCJ. The inmates will have to report it themselves. I hate that they didn't evacuate them!

If any of you have loved ones in Liberty County Jail, my hubby called and they have been moved to Livingston Tx, due to sewers being out. I wasnt home when he called, my mom said they moved them last night or today. Why in the heck didnt they move ALL these people BEFORE Ike hit. I swear "law enforcement" doesnt use their heads sometimes!

I found this new update also. Some of these people leaving comments should be made to ride out a hurricane in jail!

This is horrible. What possible excuse could there be for abandoning them there? There was a mandatory evacuation. Has anyone found out any new information on the status of the inmates there? I hope they are all okay. Once this is all sorted out SUE, SUE, SUE!!!!!!!!!

When I called prec. 4 on Friday (Spring area) I was told they were letting some of the guys out of Harris county who had lesser offenses. Then she said something about making room and then kind of mumbled. My son's been trying to call, but we just got phone service back today so I'll be able to ask him tomorrow. Sounds to me like they could have moved some of the guys from Galveston to Harris. I'll post when I find out something from him.

Just spoke with my son (how cool was that) and he said he doesn't have anyone in his cell from Galveston, but he heard they were moving guys in from there. If he hears more I'll post. With a broken jaw he's working on the "staying to himself" thing right now.

Called Ramsey I Unit to inquire about my husband and they have been moved back to the Trust Camp and everything is secure. I feel somwhat relieved! I just won't be right until I hear from him.

I won't feel better until I hear from my boyfriend, either. He's also at Ramsey. They can tell you whatever they want, and I'm not sure I trust them to tell the whole truth. So until I hear it from him, I still won't feel better. I've been a nervous wreck!

All we can do is wait patiently for that letter to come. I will post as soon as I get my letter! Hang in there I'm trying too.

I live in galveston Co. and was effected by Ike. My baby is in Galveston Co. Jail right now and I went to visit him on thurs. the day before Ike hit and I talked to the guard there and she told me that the inmates would not be moved but would not say why just security reasons. I was so upset and worried. My baby called me on friday around 4pm and said they still had not been moved. I just cant understand why and what the hell was the sherrif thinking. I called everyday after the hurricane and talked to 3 guards that assured me that my baby was ok and no one was hurt and it did not flood everything was fine. then I received a call on Saturday a courtesy call from a deputy saying that my baby was fine and answered all my questions. Then I received a call on Monday and the lady deputy let me talk to my honey... I FINALLY TALKED TO MY HONEY AND HE SAID THAT HE WAS FINE AND THEY HAD WATER AND FOOD. we were only able to talk for about 2-3 mins. I dont understand how they could leave the inmates there knowing what kind of a storm it was going to be. all i could do was pray for them.
