TIFA has just sent an email with a long list of Units that have cancelled visitation this week end. I cannot copy and paste the list. Does someone else have access to this site or email me privately and I will forward to you.

There are 7 units that have been evacuated.

TDCJ only evacuates units based on whether the facility can withstand a hurricane. Many of the Texas "pole barn prisons" cannot so they can be evacuated while a solid brick and/or concrete structure will not.

I'm just curious... why in the heck is FORT STOCKTON not having visitation???? FS is a good 550 miles away from the storm! Good grief!

I talked to my dad last night (who lives in FS) and he said they had had a lot of rain (well for FS) 4 inches, but Lynaugh isn't in a low lying area and neither is N5 so I don't think that would be it.

Who knows???

I dont know what to tell you. I asked Michelle Lyons, TDCJ's Public Relations person in Huntsville the same question and I gave you her answer although not worded like that.
