SpunkyMonkey 09-08-2008, 10:45 PM All visitations state-wide are cancelled. This was on the LA DOC website. Dates are a bit wierd...don't know what calendar they're looking at but with Ike headed semi-our way, I would say it's safe to bet that this weekend will be cancelled as well. Due to hurricane emergency operations, visitation for all state correctional facilites is cancelled for Friday, September 8th - Sunday September 10th. Further updates will be posted as necessary. sasgad 09-09-2008, 03:53 PM I am hearing that tents have been delivered to David Wade Correctional Center in Homer Louisiana. There is talk that there is flooding at Angola and prisoners from there are being relocated to David Wade. Does anyone know anything about this? This is going on during the week of September 8, 2008 - September 12, 2008. Any information is appreciated. By the way, I wonder what this will do to visitation? SpunkyMonkey 09-09-2008, 11:09 PM sasgad... This is the latest on the DOC website... If Hurricane Ike continues on its path toward Texas, state correctional facilities will conduct visitation for the weekend of September 13-14 to the extent they are able. Please contact correctional facilities directly for details. I would just call Angola and ask or call David Wade. I know that the evacuees that were at my husband's facility in DeQuincy have all been sent back to their original 'homes'. If I can help more...just PM me. parplus1 09-10-2008, 08:17 PM I have a feeling my wife was "evacuated" from calcasieu parish jail. Usually she calls me at my work around my lunch time (11 am). Well, here it is 8 pm and still no phone call. I called the jail on Monday and asked if there was any possibility to have a visitation with her in the event they decide to cancel visitation due to Ike. They told me that they could not nor would they consider doing that for me. I tried to explain to them that I haven't seen her for 3 weeks yet they wouldn't budge. It really upset me and now I have a feeling I won't be able to have my visit for a couple more weeks. Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do???? SpunkyMonkey 09-11-2008, 09:45 PM Here's the latest on the DOC website Visitation at some state correctional facilities will resume as normal this weekend (September 11- 14, 2008).
