FYI, just the info I picked up a while ago after checking out CNN.....

People in New Orleans are being "strongly urged" to evacuate immediately.

The New Orleans airport was closing at 6pm CST - now I don't remember if that was today or on Sunday.

1500 people were evacuated to Memphis from New Orleans today.

That's about all I know so far.

From the sounds of things (and the fact that the Holman max prison in Mobile, AL was evacuated, which almost NEVER happens) it seems like southwest Alabama and southeast Mississippi might get the worst, but needless to say if it gets that bad there New Orleans and the rest of south Mississippi and Alabama will have a rough time too.

Prayers and thoughts for all out there who are affected or may have a loved one affected.....

Thanks for the update. I'm in Mobile and we're expecting Tropical Storm force winds (up to 75 mph or so) but LOTS of heavy, heavy rain. I feel sure that the people at Holman in Atmore (abt 50 mi NE or Mobile) aren't taking any chances with our folks. Haven't heard about moves from NOLA. The 8 p.m. computer models have the storm curving to the NE after landfall which means we won't be away from the rain for several days. Wish us luck--we're hunkering down and battening down the hatches. MG
