Hello all! I just got back from visiting my husband. He said they have canceled visits at Bullock because they are moving inmates from Mobile because of the hurricane. They will not be able to use the visitation room because thats where they will stay. I would suggest before driving to any facility tomorrow, call first and make sure they are still having visits.

Inmates in south Alabama have very rarely been moved due to hurricanes and the southern facilities have pretty major procedures when it comes to hurricane action down there... so I would say if the Holman guys are being moved, this is expected to be a pretty big one.

Goes without saying that the men at Mobile WR & Loxley WR are likely being moved due to the hurricane as well, and anything else in the immediate Mobile area.

I would also expect that there's a good possibility the men at Fountain/JO Davis and quite possibly also the men at Easterling might be temporarily moved due to the hurricane, so if you were planning on visiting either tomorrow it would probably be a good idea to call and see whether visitation on Sunday is still being held.

For that matter, if all these men are moved due to the hurricane, who knows where they are going to send them and visitation canceled this weekend because of housing, just like visitation at Bullock was canceled because the men from Mobile are there or going there.

So I would say if you visit at ANY of the facilities in the Montgomery area of south of it - i.e., Kilby, Draper, Staton, Elmore, Ventress, Tutwiler, any WR or CWC camps and any other facilities in the Montgomery area and southward, you probably should give a call if you were planning to go Sunday and make sure visitation is still on for Sunday.

More than likely anyone north of Montgomery around Birmingham and Huntsville will be PROBABLY be unaffected and having visitation as usual on Sunday (but you might want to call just in case).

PS Bottom line - really if you were planning on visiting ANYWHERE in Alabama on Sunday 8/31, it would probably be a good idea to call first and make sure they're still having visitation.

We know for sure:

Bullock - no
Holman - no, men are moved to Bullock
Mobile & Loxley WR & other Mobile WR/CWCs - likely no

Others in the Montgomery area and south of Montgomery may be affected either due to movement because of the hurricane, or facilities being used to temporaily house inmates that are moved.

Again most facilities north of Montgomery will PROBABLY be unaffected - but it probably wouldn't hurt to call first before going and be sure.

If you hear of any more visitation at any facility being canceled Sunday for certain, or any temporary moves from one facility to another, please post it here and thanks!

I spoke with the shift office @ 6pm today. Sunday visitation will go as planned just in case anyone needed to know. :)
