Shay...I'm glad you started this thread. I had to work late and planned on making a thread as soon as I got home!
Here's what I know. They are evacuating the lower parish jails, etc. There is a list of phone numbers to call and such...Here they are.

Times phone lines are open - 7am-10pm
225-342-0901
225-342-0937
225-342-0930
225-342-1040

They started evacuating the ones they are..all day today.
I know there are an extra 600 that were sent to my husband's facility, Phelps in Dequincy...which to me is CRAZY as it's right in the path!! But, hey...that's the DOC for ya. We're all worried sick hun. Let's just pray for our men!!! ;)

Thank you so much!
Someone told me they saw the transportation vans being escorted by police in Houma last night.
So, at least I know they're getting him away from here.
I just hope they keep them safe.

What am I supposed to say when I call?
and which number do I call?

Mrs Clarke, We all are worried about our love ones I understand your worry about not being able to hear from him because of running out of minutes. My guy and me also ran out of minutes and I haven't talked to him either. But call those numbers that SpunkyMonkey left they will give you all the information you need and call the facility your loved one is in. That will give you some peace of mind not alot but some.

Ladies,
You can call any of the four numbers I listed above. They have the updated info on our loved ones and if they have been evacuated and to where. They were really friendly when I called today. I will keep everyone in prayer.
Mrs.Clarke...I don't foresee them moving USP Pollock because they aren't even evacuation Phelps which is 30-45 mins south. Apparently they think they're safe in the direct path. LA government....don't get me started.
I have just got to believe our men will be safe. We just need to lean on eachother for support during these next few days!!! ;)

Just read this

PRISONS

The Louisiana Department of Corrections has suspended visitations at all state facilities on Sunday. Pam Laborde of the department estimated around 8,000 prisoners were being relocated from coastal prisons to facilities across the state. Steve Hoyle Rehabilitation Center in Tallulah will receive inmates, and facilities in the LaSalle management group, which includes prisons in Lincoln, Jackson, LaSalle, Catahoula and Claiborne parishes, could also temporarily house prisoners. Chief Deputy Jay Russell of Ouachita Parish said the Ouachita Correctional has prepared to absorb 75 prisoners if necessary.

My wife was evacuated from Calcasieu Parish to Angola and she has tried to call me (I have been outside without my cell phone) Her mom called me and gave me the 225-342-0901 number to call back but no one on that end answers. Should I keep trying to call that number?

Anyone have any idea how long I can expect her to be gone?

Thanks so much for the support. I hope and pray that everything turns out okay for all of those who are incarcerated.

My brother is at Concordia Correctional in Ferriday, Louisiana and he called Thursday to say they were told that they were putting 20 guys from South Louisiana into their dorm. He didn't know where these guys were being moved from..but they are going to Concordia. They were moving my brother and his group out into the building behind the prison where the go to their rehab classes. He called to let me know that he wouldn't have access to a phone until they moved him back to his dorm. He is due to be released Sept 12th and unless he is moved back to the dorm he can't even call me! I don't know how the process works but he says that nobody has come to process him out yet. I called the Parole Office here in Shreveport and the guy said nobody has to do that. He said that Concordia has his paperwork and when his release date comes he will be released. Does anyone know how that works?? I have no idea who to call to ask! I hope all goes well with all the guys who are being moved and that they can go back soon! I've been watching the weather and will be praying for everyone in the path of this terrible storm!!

My husband is at Pollock - he called me a 8 am and told me that they were going on lockdown at 10:00 am for a couple of days due to the storm. Now that the storm has passed, I'm not sure how long it will last... he hasn't called yet. I assume they might come off tomorrow.

I'm sorry, y'all. I didn't check this much in the last week. My husband said they still have alot of evacuees there at Phelps in DeQuincy and they are expected to be there for several more days at least. I think these guys are from the Houma area. :( Now we have Ike to worry about as well. I will try and check in here more ofter over the week since Ike's headed our way. ;)
