OK Once again I have 2 come 2 you guys 4 help. My son recieved a 5 yr. sentence (plea) in 1 county, and a 2 yr. plea in another one (adjoining co.) he was told by his court appt. atty. that it would all run cc, now he's up 4 parole and we find out that what he plead 2 is different than what is on the records that the prison has. his caseworker told my husband yesterday that they ( the DA & his attorney misrepresented his plea bargain to him, and instead of his time served + good time ect. the max he would do was around 15 months...he already has that , plus some. My question is, that several inmates that he has talked to told him that there was a Inmate Advocate Hotline in Houston for that specific problem, I need 2 know if anyone out there knows where I can get that info, AND if his court appointed atty. can have a grievence filed against him for misrepresentation, if he fails 2 follow thru with his duty to represent Odie as his atty. of record? Any suggestions?? Already went 2 the DA...who will NOT see me, and the judge (because it violates rules of procedure YEAH RIGHT...they do it ALL time 4 attys.) Anyone have the number 4 the offenders screwed over hotline? I'd be Dery greatful as I get NOWHERE in this CORRUPT lil county in Texas called "BOWIE CO.) Thanx 4 any help...(ODIESMOM).CARLA

You have several choices you can go to the the site www.TIFA.org and hit the link button it will connect you with the State Bar which in fact regulates Attorney and Judges in the state of Texas. Or you can go to the governors webpage www.state.tx.us or www.statebar.com they can/will send you out a complaint packet. Remember any profession that is licensed or certified in the state of TX can have a complaint filed on their License or Certification. Examples: MD's, Nurses, Judges, Attnorneys, Tax Examiners, Social Workers, etc. You can also see if there has been any complaints filed or disciplinary action take. Sad to say you just have to know the right question and be diligent and persistent. Matter of fact you can almost request any piece of paper the State of Texas is in possession of if you follow simple guidelines know the ACT and Rules in which they are govern. Hope this helps if not you are more than welcome to email me and I will link this information to you

Good Luck

Thank so much for the links. I did get quite a nice surprise today tho. I had gone 2 see my daughter, and my husband called and said that Odie's attorney had called him (on a Sunday no less) in reguards to a fax my husband sent out to him last Friday. He said that he felt sure this could be resolved (the State isn't honoring their plea bargain) with a transcript of the judges order, so this coming week I have to get that and find out where his attorney has to send it via TDCJ......I think that's simple enuff. Maybe I'll be able to handle this assignment on my on without having to ask for assistance =0) I tell you this forum has been an absolute Godsend to me, seems like there's always been someone with a correct answer, or a helpful link. Again thanx so much!
