I write to an inmate who is in VSPW a lettor usualy takes 5 - 6 days to reach me here in England. Hope this helps. Can't help with the visiting question though. Good luck.

bigstick, visiting approval takes about three weeks, and I'm in Fresno and I get letters from her in two days on average. Now your letters to her can take a while sometimes. It's a lot better than it used to be, about a week on average. There have been times around the holidays when mail took two months to get to her. Hopefully those days are over.

Myself, it's taking 2 weeks, from the time letters arrive at PO Box 92, before she gets my letter. Mail room COs have to open each letter, read the contents to make sure you're not discussing forbidden topics (escape, smuggle contraband, etc...), and supposedly, to inspect for hidden contraband. In my opinion, when they find drugs, the mail room COs ingest them. If you want to visit, your ♥♥ must send you a form-106 (visitor application), and wait for approval before you visit.
