I just wanted to share a bit of goodness with you all.Stepehn was transferred to the East hidalgo county jail a few weeks ago and this past weekend I decided to take my 5 children to see him..well, this is the only place that allowed us to visit all together , actually encouraged us coming, and made our wait as easy as possible..The guards have been so wonderful and kind to me and my children as well..helping to speed up the wait so my kids wouldnt get restless..giving us extra time due to the number of us and this is the first place I didnt feel like I was being looked DOWN upon! I get a generally good feeling from all invilved there! I just wanted to share this with all of you, since we always report the injustices and wrongs, it is nice to have some goodness from the inside to report!!

I am glad you had such a good experience and can second that there are a few DOC employees who at least have common courtesy. I had my first experience visiting JD this weekend, and some (officers) were about as rude and condescending as they could be, but others were quite kind.
But... even if the majority of the apples are bad apples, you also have to give credit where credit is due to the rare sweet one.... :)

amelia-- am glad to hear you had such a pleasant visitation experience-- we have a long way to go in this area and I am glad to here that some progress has been made to more humane attitudes and visitation environments
