Hi...um I need some help or info. please! Normally i'm on the Texas State Prison forums cause of my husband, but my brother -in-law is in Beaumont Low. The thing is my mother-in-law hasn't been able to go in and actually visit him...its been 3 years. They won't let them in! And we wanna know why?? What did he do for this type of disciplinary action? He's old, partially blind and on a wheel chair! I don't know who to call or get a hold of ! I've tried calling the prison......OMG NOOOOOOOOOO answer what so ever!!! Can someone please advise us & tell us who to call! We also want to know if there's like a status line as far as when he's being released...if ever. Anything would help...thanks!

So you're saying that your mother-in-law filled out the visiting application, sent it in to your brother-in-law's counselor and was denied? The counselor should have told your brother-in-law the reason. He should ask.
Or are you saying he lost his visiting privileges as punishment for some prison violation? That happens sometimes too but there's usually a time limit on it.
You can go on the "Inmate Locator" on the federal BOP website (www.bop.gov) and put in his federal register number and it will show his release date. That's when it will be, unless he's a Washington D.C. prisoner or sentenced before November 1, 1987, in which case he's under a parole system which might change his release date.
Also, the 2nd Chance Act, recently passed by Congress, will allow the BOP to establish an early release program for non-violent inmates over age 65 who have served a particular percentage of their sentence - but that program has not begun yet. I think the rules for that are supposed to be written by November 1st of this year. Z.

Thanks Z! How would she go about getting a visitation application by the way?

The inmate sends her the application and, on it, there will be his counselor's name, which is where it is sent back to (not to the inmate) once completed. Then the inmate is told whether she is approved for visiting and then tells her. Z.

You can also print the application from the BOP website...
