So, as you may know, I found my long lost brother that I had never met within the system. When I found out that he was in Federal Prison I was searching everywhere online. During my search for him, I saw a profile online of a guy that I went to college with over 15 years ago and I wrote him. He is also in the Feds but in a totally different state than my brother. My brother called me less than 24 hours of my visiting and meeting him (my brother last weekend)) and asked me about the guy I had written. I was like how do you know? He won't tell me, but he was upset that I wrote a guy in the Feds and didn't tell him because "people talk around here". Have you ever heard of this happening???

That's exactly what I was going to ask.

^^ Yup...I figured you must be writing to your friend about your brother. Once that happens...yes, word travels a million miles a minute

Yeah, I told my friend how I found my brother and him around the same time. My question is how my brother found out so quickly. They are both in the Feds by in 2 different states....

People talk, hun, that's my only guess.
My dear and his Co-D are in two diff prisons in 2 diff states and correspond...yet people talk about them.
I can only assume that prison is in and of itself a small society. Just like we hear about each other's lives yet we are in different states, they hear about one another in spite of being in diff facilities.
Plus...BOP moves the inmates around like chess pieces. Word travels with the men who get moved so often

Or your college friend sent a letter to someone on the outside and had them send it on to your brother. Against the rules but people do it. Z.

Wow! Amazing. Thanks for the insight. I'm mad at my brother though because he's mad that I contacted another prisoner. I mean, he's a prisoner too!!! He shouldn't be so judgemental. I went to college with this guy. I already have a guy (who's in prison here in Cali). I just wanted to let my college friend know that I saw him online and to say hello. What the heck is the problem??? I guess he's overprotective since we've just met and we are siblings. I'm not used to it though...:). Those big brothers...you've gotta love 'em:D!
