I am wondering
what is a case management conference?
Hubby has no attny for this case being brought against him.
I am working with an attny for another issue to try to protect our home from this suit, but we (he) has no legal assistance for the suit.
And actually, we have no money to pay one.

It is a settlement conference, and identifies cases that are likely to settle, cases that'll settle with help, and cases that'll likely be headed to trial.
It sounds like your husband won't be representend and won't be attending. The othe rside will be trying to set up a default judgement if they can get one.

the attny I am working with had kept in contact with the other party that is also being sued.
We have offered a small amount of money (I can borrow it)
I have a feeling tho, that the person suing will not want to settle.

Unless someone has unlimited legal resources (a volunteer lawyer or a big bag of cash), civil cases have a limit. The typical lawyer doesn't want to volunteer services, and hourly rates are around $350/hr. in most places. If the lawyer can't get a fee out of winning the case, the Plaintiff's attorney will be doing flips and twists to try to get the case settled. Sometimes inexperienced lawyers sign contracts that keep them in the case whether they like it or not, but most contracts offer the lawyer some king of an an escape hatch.

unfortunatley the plantiff has a sister who is her attny.
I doubt she pays her. (could be wrong)
she also had a cousin who works for the DA (which makes me wonder why hubbys sentence was so high.....but that is water under the bridge)
this is one reason I do not think it will settle. They checked the boxes on the paper work for over 25K (for what they are looking for)
