My husband said that a staff at Red Rock told him that the new prison behind Red Rock opened up this past week for California inmates. Apparently 5 busses from Cali. took inmates there. This Prison is said to be twice the size of the other prisons there in Eloy (over 3,000 beds). My husband has been @ Red Rock since March of this year, he likes it here .He said it's a whole lot better than where he was. (SVSP)

Just got a call from my father, who was transferred from CA to La Palma. He's still in reception, but he says so far it 's a huge improvement on where he was in CA. The first thing he noticed was how much better the food is. And while he's in reception, there's a day room he's allowed to spend time in, and he's able to read and play board games, etc. It sounds like a much better place to be than his prior assignment. :)

My husband was told months ago that he would be transferred to Arizona and it never happend. Last month he finally requested to be transferred. He is so miserable with the conditions right now. So I guess I might be heading out to this new prison soon. Keep us informed REDWOODPIXIE and let us know how it is.

Will do! One benefit I've noticed immediately is they're allowed 30 minute phone calls, as opposed to the 15 minute calls he was allowed in CA. And he's got the ability to call direct, which means calls to cell phones are ok as well.

What do you mean call direct?

Yeah i heard about the 30 minute calls from Nora. I also heard there are more days for visiting.

I found this phone number for La Palma Prison in Arizona:
520-464-3970

Also here is a link to CCA, the internet site for all of CCA facilities:

I talked to my father last week, and he mentioned that the visiting facility is still under construction. Actually, he said they're sort of building the prison around the inmates who are already there. Sounds like a real mess. The yards are teeny tiny as well. It takes 17 laps around the yard to equal one mile. So it's not ALL it's cracked up to be, but it still sounds like a better place to be than some of the places in CA.
