My man is in Prison and has been for 16 years, but he has a parole hearing comming up!!?? I thought that he would not get a parole hearing until the 28th year marked? I am totally confused????:confused:

I pray they see he is a changed person and grant him parole, but if not then how much longer will we haveto wait?

Has anyone had experience with this or have any information that they can give me on parole hearings or the way sentencing goes??

He hs a right to a parole hearing after he serves the minimum sentence. FOr a violent crime, he gets some percentage of conduct credits, 50% in an old sentence that pre-dates 3 strikes laws and 15% in a case that post dates 3 strikes laws.
Chances of getting parole on an indeterminate sentence are extremely low. This was likely a second degree murder case with a 1 year prior prison term enhancement. I've seen some special facts 2nd degree cases get paroled (involving "battered spouse" women who had cases before the defense was recognized), but otherwise 1st degrere and second degree murder seem to both mean that there's no real hope in being released. Perhaps in the future teh parole board will do things differently; maybe someone will win a writ and a higher court will call them the rubber stamp they really are. For now, chances are very slim.
