I've noticed the VA forum has been a little slow lately and that makes me sad :(
Can I at least get a few shout outs from my Va girls to remind me that I'm not the only girl in VA wishing that the DOC phones stayed on during the lonely hours of the night??

There is nothing worse than hearing that warning and you know once this call ends, he can't call back.

what i hate the most is that our other half has complete control over when they call. There are so many times in a day that i want to share something whether it be a conversation, laugh or cry and i have to wait, wait, wait!!!

OMG! That drives me nuts! The worst was when we had to cut down on the amount of calls and he would hang up before I could accept and I had to talk to him so badly about something!

myersp0870
11-10-2008, 09:26 PM
So you were having him call just hear his voice. Bummer, I don't think I could handle that knowing that she would hang up.

We could only afford to talk every three days so we set up a signal. When he was thinking of me, he would call and then hang up. This happened ten, twenty times a day. Thing is, he was supposed to go until they asked me to accept the charges and then I would hang up. If he needed to talk to me, he would call right back. If I needed to talk to him, I would accept. Problem was, he would hang up too soon and I would hold the phone and yell in "NOOOOOO! Call back!" For like three days this happened until he finally stayed on long enough for me to accept and I could tell him the news I had so desperately wanted to tell. LOL!

I wish there was a way you could get a message to them to call!

myersp0870
11-11-2008, 07:13 PM
I guess that is one way to say "I am thinking of you" LOL! Talking about messages, you know I was in the same prison my girl is at and after I had been home about 2 months it had been a few days since I had heard from her so, I decided to call up there and get them to give her the message to call home, LOL, why did the people pick up on exactly who I was. Man, was I embarressed!! Oh well, it was a nice try, but I don't think I will be doing that any more.

So often I think that I am alone in my thoughts, but then I read some thing some one else had posted and its my thoughts exactly.
Its a comfort to know I am not alone.

sue21, that is so true!! I am an ex VADOC inmate and honestly until I joined this site, I had no idea the amount of people who went through what my family did and what I am now going through with a loved one left behind in the hands of VADOC.

I was talking to my son the other day and telling him there was a thread on here some where about a news reporter from Richmond that was doing a story about the prisons being closed and the Va budget problems and I had e-mailed him back telling him if he wanted a story, he should look into the excessive sentence being handed out by the judges and how much money would be saved if non-violent inmate didn't have such long sentences. The reporter e-mailed me back and I answered him as to a couple of cases. Didn't use any names, just a couple of examples. Haven't heard back, so I don't know if it just wasn't interested or if he is considering it? Any way, I was telling my son about it and they ended the phone call and told him we were discussing sensitive information and restricted his calls for 48 hours. Is that sensitive information?

nithtmare - Hi, I am not sure what is considered sensitive information. I guess with a prison anything could be. I think if I were you I would be calling his counselor and finding out why this happened. Who exactly told him this? Someone in rank? Seems to me it was just talking of the news and personal opinions. Good Luck!

Hi I just joined today. My fiancee was just put into the reception center at Powhatan. I tried to go visit Christmas morning but was denied. I apparently need special permission from Warden. We both got in trouble a year ago and it has been a sad year and this Christmas was the worst as I drove a long way and then was denied. Cried all the way home. This is so hard and the Va system is something I could have never imagined unless I experienced it.

Welcome to PTO! You will find it a great source of information and support. You may have been denied just due to his being in reception. They can't have visits until cleared by medical. If they still deny you, then write to the warden and ask for permission.
