is it a crime to not pay hospital bills?, what will happen if some one dosint pay them.

They will go to collections and will affect your credit rating. I have never heard of anyone getting in trouble with the law for not paying them. They can attach any wages that you might have now and in the furture until the bills are paid off. One thing you can do is see if they county you are in has a county medical program. If you sign up for that they will cover past bills for I think it is three months back and will then cover you in the furture if you still qualify. I do know that some counties do have these programs for people that do not qualify for MediCal so you should check into it. I use to work for MediCal when I was living in CA in Sonoma County and they have a program there called CMSP, and I also know that Merced has a program like this and I am sure there are other counties that do also.

There is no such thing as debtor's prison. If liability is civil, they can get a judgement and try to collect it. They could get an order to deduct a large percentatge of your paycheck, sieze many kinds of assets, and intercept government checks.

thaks for the info, what will fileing for bankrurpty do?will it make all my old hospital bills go away?they are all emergency room bills from 2001 to 2007 i went to so many emergency rooms i cant even count, i was in pain with a brocken shoulder wicht lead to a bad pain pill addiction for about 7 years,i had no insurince at the time so i would go to emergency rooms.today i am pain free and 1 year clean and sober no more pills for me, not even over the counter stuff.those pain pills really took over my life and made me think that i could not live with out them.i beat the addiction, my life is so much better now being clean and sober.

Yes, going bankrupt can cover medical bills. The hospital would be treated like any other judgement debtor.
