We're planning our first visit next week to see our son and take his three children to see him. I know theres a dress code for us ,but what about the kids?Are they allowed to wear shorts, also does anyone know if you can wear sandles or if it needs to be closed toed shoes? He's also told us we have to sit on benches the whole time not facing each other, whats that about? I guess we're just really nervous and don't want to mess up. He also told me to call the day we're leaving to make sure they're not on lock down.That would be a little late to cancel motel reservation. We're going over 400 miles so we have to stay for three nights because of the kids. Any info would be appreciated.

Hope I can help a little..I visit Beaumont Medium once a month
and I know they are not as strict about dress code as some of
the other places I hear about..anyways you can wear open toe
shoes no flip flops unless they have that really thick sole..no
sleeveless shirt. As far as the benches I'm not sure about they
must be outside and with this TX weather I prefer inside I have never
sat outside; but on the inside you sit side by side and there is a little
table for your food or games..the chairs are lined up about 15-20 chairs
and about 4-5 rows on one side and the same on the other side. I have
never been turned away or the facility has never been on lock down
since I have been going (Nov 07) calling to verify if they are on lock
down is a job within itself (good luck). The children will be fine they
dont really say anything about the kids unless they are like 15 years
old and have on a midriff ( I have seen that there). Just remember to
always keep an extra set of clothes in the car just in case. If you have any more questions dont hesistate to ask..Hope you have a safe trip.My drive is about 350 miles one way...

Thanks for the info. I had called and have gotten two different answers. I'll be on the safe side and take extra clothes.
