does anyone know if it is possible for an inmate to be admitted in to a drug rehab center instead of jail?

Here were i live theres something called Safe-P i beleave. The courts somtimes send them therei instead of jail.

Here in NM before things get too bad--it is always an option--and it never HURTS to ask.

I dont know, I always thought that a problem parole could be directed to in-house rehab

It depends on the offense of course. One can often get rehab as a "condition" of parole or probation (which means the state pays for it, though the choice of facilities often becomes theirs as well). If someone wants it, by all means, s/he should make it known. Getting clean and sober keeps more people out of prison than any other single factor, and thankfully the judicial system is starting to recognize that. At least, when it takes the time to recognize that it is a GOOD thing to have fewer people in prison....
