Hi, I wanted to share with you all that I found out today that my appeal on the permanent visiting restriction they put on me was denied. Apparently the Hearing Officer is similar to God: "The Hearing Officer is the sole finder of fact at an administrative hearing on a proposed permanent visitor restriction and has the authority to determine the credibility of conflicting evidence." Blah, blah, blah! Can you believe the MDOC's motto at the top of the letterhead is: "Expecting Excellence Every Day"? What a joke! Anyway I have now exhausted all my appeals at the state level, so have no idea how to proceed from here! Trying to get this restriction lifted will probably take at least all of the 21 months my husband has left to do til he maxes out! And then I still probably won't get it lifted. Feels like I'm banging my head against a big stone wall!

I am sooooo sorry to hear that your appeal was denied. You would think they would have some sort of compassion!! I don't know what the reason was they took visiting away from you, but I do know they can be real butt heads about any minor infraction. You are in my prayers and while I can understand your frustration, count your blessing that he has a release date. Mine has 25 to life for a 3rd Strike. He walked into a bank with a check that was stolen (unbeknownst to him) and tried to open a checking account. They gave him 1st degree burglary (the felony), possession of a stolen check and forgery, along with a 25 to life sentence because he had a prior burglary and robbery, both of which he already did his time for. So Sad :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Sorry that your appeal was denied I just wish that I could come up with something for you, but I haven't a clue for you. Again Isadora, I'm truly sorry! :( :(

Thanks you guys! I am making copies of everything and sending it all to the ACLU. They have said they will try to help me if they can, so here's hoping they can do something!!!!

Honey I am so sorry it got denied.. I know it is hard but you have to fight them.. They need to know that you are serious. What will they do take your visits away HA HA :) Just keep you head up baby girl... Good always triumphs over evil...
