I am wondering how to find out if MCI has blocked my husband from calling? I got word to him today via another inmates wife for him to call and it never happend. I got 4 calls right in a row when I answered no one there then it hung up. Usuallly if he cant get trough or problems with phone he calls right back again. That is why I am wondering if they might of put a block on. I just switched to mci a little less then a month ago so i have no idea how they run things
if someone can help me please i am sitting here pissed wondering if that is what happened.
Thanks

OK Here's what I know...MCI covers all Virginia correctional calls...here is the number for MCI Correctional Customer Service ~ 1 (800) 231-0193. They will tell you if there is a block on your phone!
Also, while you are talking to them, tell them you would like to know what the CURRENT contracted rate is for Virginia to Missouri calls. Tell them which prison your husband is in. They should give you the rate. Make sure and check this with your phone bill, because MCI was over charging me and they had to credit me back a good size amount! Not that they didn't get it back the next month!
If this doesn't work, let me know...I have another number somewhere for the MCI person in Virginia, who handles and monitors the facility call! Good Luck!
Pamela:rolleyes:

Yep, it is 24 hours during the week, but the weekends are limited day hours...So let me know what they said. You can also have a friend try to call you collect and if it goes through, just don't except the calls. Usually once a block is in place, it's not just the correctional calls but all collect calls and long distance call are blocked too!

When they would block my phones, it wouldn't ring but it would tell Billy that there is a block. The only way I found out is his mom would call or he'd tell me at visit or in a letter.

Hi,
I have a son in prison in Tennessee, we have the same problem here to, the phone company here that carries the collect calls is Global*Tel Link. Have been having problems with them blocking my calls for some time now, even when they verify that my phone bill has been paid. And that is the way I found out about the block no other calls could come through. We have to report any payments to them that we make. And when we try to get ahold of them we are kept on the phone for over an hour at times. I don't understand why they have so many problems. They charge enough to have the best equipment available. I hope you get yours straightened out.

Hey Tereasa,
Are you still having problems with calls being blocked?
I am experinecing the same problem now through MCI and a Missouri facility. They (MCI) keep telling me that they know of the problem and that it is software. My last call was August 3rd and we have weekly scheduled calls - Friday or Saturday each week. Each time I call MCI they say today or tomorrow it will be fixed. Two days later I call again and they tell me the same thing. This is 22 days of this story.
I think that others are having problems here and there with MCI. What did they tell you when you called?
