I have not received a call since June 15th. There was a block on CBS ($1.40 over limit) and I didn't put more money on that account because I thought SMCI changed to Global Tel Link. Global Tel Link told me they serviced SMCI and that my line was clear. Today I talked to CBS and they told me they still service SMCI so I put money on CBS account and they said the line would be clear within 24 hours. What is going on? Can both companies service SMCI as they have stated and any suggestions as to what might be going on?
Why would CBS list "GTL" after the facility name on their web site? I totally don't understand the phone deal and appreciate any info. Please feel free to move these 2 posts to the phone forum...sorry bout that.

You need to set up an account with GTL. The money on my CBS account did not transfer.
Once you get the account set up, in order to save money use money orders to make payments or in a pinch Western Union. Pay by phone is super expensive.

Thanks for your reply, Mrs. Glamma. I talked to GTL days ago and they said I didn't need to pay any money & that I would be billed on my regular phone bill through AT&T. I used to pay that way and the only reason I know of that it changed was that we went a little over our spending limit?? I may lose the money I put on CBS but they assured me they are still servicing SMCI and would refund unused money. Maybe I will just try to visit the 5th even though I didn't plan to go until the 20th...just to make sure he is okay. I will call first and make sure he can have a visit though before I go. I really think it is something to do with the phone companies. I shoudn't have been blocked with GTL for the $1.40 over the limit with CBS, should I??? Just can't wrap my brain around this phone stuff.

Fae, just remember that Global Tel will also lock you out of having this go to your phone bill ( AT&T) if you "go over" the allowable minutes. I think it is something like 35 dollars a day allowed and 200 a month. This happened to my Uncle. I think folks who live across state ones and pay a dollar a min. for calls should be allowed more but anyway that is their rules and we have to live with them because the phone calls are a "privelege" according to MDOC. I hope you get to go visit the 5th.. BE SAFE!! That is a long Holiday weekend and traffic may be really bad.

Off topic, but I must interject. Y'all do NOT know what bad traffic is on a holiday weekend until you are on the way to Cape Cod (bumper to bumper hardly moving traffic up to 50 miles, or Jones beach same thing.

Goodness Glamma.. I agree...
Yay...I got my call today. I was on the phone to SMCI early this morning and they said when the phone switched over it put him back at CMCF so she fixed it while I was on the phone and I got a call in about an hour. Maybe I can sleep better tonight knowing he is okay. I'm a heart patient and it worries me sooooooooooo bad when I don't hear. I know you all understand.
