I have done this before, can't remember where but I didn't have a problem getting the letters to him, as long as you have the correct dorm and bed number on the envelope.

Thanks! I didn't think it would be a problem. I mean, legal and business letters are typed. Duh! I have gotten SO LAZY that I don't handwrite anything anymore unless I have to. 'Preciate your reply!!

Ginger,
You can send typed letters. You can alos send him things you print off but remember no more than 6 printed off items. You can also send him stationary and envelopes but no more than 4 envelopes and 8 peices of blank stationary for him to write you on. You can send him a book of stamps if you would like as well. No notebooks (not even composition notebooks can be sent in the mail--we tried this and they sent the whole package back). Card are okay and so are pictures as long as they are not x-rated. They do read the mail at this facility and they will call your man on the carpet about anything in the letters that is slightly suggestive so definitely keep it PG. Phone calls are monitored closely as well and they will cut you off if you even pass the phone around the room and they hear different voices on the phone (you get a message that a three-way call is suspected). I hope this helps. We have been there since Febuary and we are hoping to be home by the end of this month. Send me a PM if you have anymore questions.
God Bless and I will be praying for you and your sweetheart!

Hey, frontlinelady! Thanks for your reply!! He's just a friend, my man (my husband!) is in prison over here in Georgia and things are a little different here! No stamps or stationery and my red hot letters to him are either just not read or they don't care 'cause he gets them.

Thanks for letting me know this stuff! I've never dealt with Alabama before. Been dealing with Georgia for TWENTY YEARS.

I pray your baby comes home SOON!!!!

Anything I can help with I am happy to help! I will be heading to visitation this Sunday and I am soooo excited!! I will be praying for your husband in Georgia and your friend in Alabama!! The list is never too long for our Heavenly Father! Thank you for being in agreement for our homecoming! I have so much respect for you ladies that have been waiting for so long! I would do it if I had to but at the same time I am praying this will be over by the end of this month and we can move forward!! God has been really good to us and we know we are blessed. We will continue to fight for inmates and the families of inmates for the rest of our lives. We know we were brought to this place for a reason and we want to help. :)

I am just trying to figure out how to communicate with everyone. I have put a couple of posts out there. I am not too sure if they have made it to anywhere yet. I only have access to computer a couple days a week, so hopefully I'll soon understand how this works. I want to be a supporter and prayerful friend for our inmates and their families.
