Call back to the institution and ask to speak with the Duty Officer. Someone is on call - always. Tell them that the mother of one of their inmates had a stroke and is in the hospital. Tell it is an emergency. That should help you get the info to him.

Listen when it comes to things like this I think that they need to know because if something major not saying this isn't he can prepare himself a little better!
ok let me tell you my father has mini strokes and whatever it is causing it obviously she needs to have taken care of their called T.I.A's and mini strokes same thing but in case your looking it up online or anything but if you ever want to chat about it let me know and I can tell you everything I know about them because my father started having mini strokes about 15 years ago and then had a major stroke about 8 years ago and now just had a major blockage and had to have his leg amputated back in March! So like I said if you want to talk about it let me know
God Bless her and him and You!
I will be saying prayers for her right now!

When you call, be sure to have the mother-in-law's name, the name of the hospital and the phone number there, in case the staff person wants to verify the information. Stay strong - I've had to deliver bad news like that and be ready to possibly not have a long phone call with him - he may need to go back to his housing to process his emotions privately. If you give him the number of the hospital, he may be able to arrange with his counselor to make a phone call there, if his mom is able to talk on the phone. Z.
