I have just about had it!!! As some of you know already, my son is under "parole review". He has already been interviewed, and I keep calling that "status info no." and I stil get the same answer, under review, ok I accept that, BUT today I get a letter from my son telling me that he talked to his counselor and that even if he's granted parole, he'll just be sent to ANOTHER state jail facility, to serve out what this other Co. had a hold on him for , BUT his paperwork from his atty. that he signed said the sentences were to run concurrent, but when the counselor pulled it up on the computer, his release date is(with the hold that was suppose to be taken care of) is 2004! The counselor told him to tell someone on the outside 2 contact the DA's office and they could fix it, so I did, and after being transfered 3 times, basically I was told they couldn't tell me how to get it resolved, so I ask them if I could get an appointment to talk to the DA and bring the letter, so the issues would be clearer to them instead of getting all confused over the phone, I was put on hold AGAIN, and then was told NO!! They're telling me that NO I CAN'T SEE A DA WHO IS AN "ELECTED PUBLIC SERVANT"? I think not, so I WILL be going there first thing in the morning with the letter, and I'm not leaving until I'm satisfied that I am going to get this straightened out!
Just in case there's any doubt to this post, I'm just venting as I have no where else to vent! Thank God for PTO! CARLA

Carla,
I can completely understand your frustration and it sound more than warranted. That is BS.. Most of the DA's and their staff forget who they ultimately work for! The Tax Payer!! That is you my dear lady... If they won't talk to you, then take it directly to the judge & the courts. The court clerk may be someone you need to talk to anyway..
It makes me so mad how these people act. They have given my mother and family the run-around on several occasions in the past. I sat in jail on a mistermeanor charge for 3 months once with a no bond because some idiots filed it as a felony, and nobody in this court system would do a damn thing.. Finally, after paying an attorney, I got before the judge and he gave me an apology.. blah blah blah..
Don't give up.. That is all I can say..
Well, I'll also say I am sorry you are having to go through this.. I know how frustrating these people can be..
(My own vent!)

David, Thanx for letting me vent.......I'm still fuming, I did call the judges office today (after I posted) to ask to see the judge at his convience and was told that was a no-no, judges can't do that, it would be ex-parte, she talked to me as if I were a complete idiot, she doesn't know that my husband's ex wife is an attorney and he's been fighting her here in Bowie Co. for 8 years, they were married less than 3. Anyway the point being is I know for a FACT that judges & attys. do the ex-parte thing ALL THE TIME, it's just us little peons (who happen 2 pay their bills) that have no EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER THE LAW!! OH GOSH I'm mad all over! I'm going 2 the DA's tomorrow, and then see where I go from there...I will keep you posted. Thanx 4 the reply...Carla

Let me jump in here... Mom you need to get the transcripts from when he was sentanced.. If they say concurrent then take them to the DA's office and tell them to fix it.. You need to have proof in hand also get something from that counselor that shows the hold.. Then call the inmate status line and ask to be transfered to the time caculation lady.. they will be of some help.. You then point out the concurrent issue with them.. The prison is not going to be much help in this one..
Hope this get's some good result if not let me know and we will try another way..

Thank you for the advice, I called to talk to his caseworker today, but he had left early, the lady I did talk to was the one who told me he would not set foot outside of the prison until March 26th 2004..I plan on calling back again tomorrow, in hopes of talking to Odie's actual caseworker, again thanks for the advice, and I will follow it, first transcript...then DA's office..Got ya!
