You know, until my nephew was sent to Walnut grove, I thought the gangs activty was exaggerated. I was WRONG. If anything , it was understated. My nephew has been there five weeks and has been in five fights. Foruntately, he has not yet been seriously injured, but every one of the fights was gang related. Mainly because he is so outspoken agiants them. He had his commissary stolen on his first time. He, err rectified the situation by fighting two people at one time and winning. ( He was training to go into MMA before he wa sent there for a probation violation.) Apparently, they have an area known as the "Crack", where there are no cameras or points of view and they can "resolve" their issues. He has had to affiliate somewhat with one of the gangs in order to survive. The guards know all about the "Crack". How in God's name can the idiots at Cornell Corrections and MDOC allow this crap to go on ? Why aren't the families of every inmate there protesting this imbecility? I spent 6 years in TDOC and yes, there was plenty of stupidity there, but even at the "Thunderdome" at lake county or at the mi9sbegotton CCA fascility at Hardeman County the violence had Some limits.

hay hay MM,
HOw old is your nephew? my understanding is when they turn 22 they ship them out although it takes a bit.. My son was 21 when his altercation that landed him in THE OTHER WORLD happened, Fortunatley he had heard how BAD BAD BAD Walnut Grove is and red flagged the place when he was in orientation. He managed to go elsewhere. He has met many guys that have been there and says most are very traumatized. HE has had his moments at most facilites, most occur in the first month or so at each move. YES counting county and orientation he has been moved 6 times i think it is withing this 2 1/2 year period.
Pray for your nephew and if he can get a transfer, go for it!! THE gangs are everywhere, I DONT" think they are as bad as out west, but they do exist.
GOD BLESS all our Guys
l...
the best is yet to come!!!

He will be 20 years old Monday. The main source of his problems there is that his charge partner is there as well. That individual threatened my nephew, his parent, me and my wife. As he got to WGYCF first, he's had time to spread plenty of lies and innuendoes against my nephew. What I think is really hilarious is that the boy is an extremely well known police informant in Alcorn and Prentiss counties and he's trying so hard to be something he's not there. he's also about 5 foot 5 and 140 pounds to my nephews 6 foot and 190 and he KNOWS he hasn't got a hope against him in a 1 on1 fight.. A coward will do anything to get out of a fihgt and that seems to be his strategy. It's a shame that all of the drama there is caused by a relative handful. Even the counselor and assistant warden i spoke to the will tell you thta 80 percent of the guys there have problems , but would be fairly easy to deal with if not for the other 20 percent determined to keep gang and racial issues stirred up.
