Lis&Nif 08-15-2002, 08:08 AM Thank you! You all are awesome! We have to look out for some of the most vulnerable people in society. Now, if you would, please pass that link around to as many people as possible. I've got it up until November, and I'm going to submitt it before the new year. I used the jail where my husband is as a personal experience, but this is only the beginning...
Keep rock'n:fb:

loosielucy 09-03-2002, 01:56 PM Hi I just signed petition .....I'm #55....
Wow there's a lot more needed right....?
Good Luck and God Bless
Lis&Nif 09-03-2002, 02:10 PM Hi Loosielucy,
Thanks hun! Yes I have a long way to go in a short amount of time, but every person helps tremendously!
I know that many members here have loved ones in the federal system...I presume overcrowding has hit them hard too...right?
loosielucy 09-03-2002, 04:03 PM Hi Liz...
My son is in a state prison as opposed to federal....but I hear there is over crowding in all prisons...especially in California....when my son first got to the place he is now he was put in a gym converted into a so-called dorm with the bunks stacked 6 high,,,,would this be considered over crowding plus just a bit dangerous for the one on the top...the conditions are all deplorable....as before Good Luck & God's Speed
Lis&Nif 09-03-2002, 04:16 PM Yes, that is definitely overcrowded! This issue is heart wrenching for me! I refuse to keep my mouth shut about such dishonorable action. The system doesn't make any sense to me at all, and I can't stand for laws that make it even worse. I'm sure there are many worse scenarios around the country, and I am using my husband's experience as my base for an argument to them...
Most of the people spending years in prison shouldn't even be there, as far as I'm concerned....there is a better way! I'm beginning to think that many prisoners are like the governments' slaves.
Take care and God Bless you too!
loosielucy 09-03-2002, 07:02 PM Hi....
It's me again but was wondering if you had posted the petition in the Virginia forum...here at PTO?
I feel the same way as to those who have done enough time for whatever crime they may have commited......It's like those prisoners have just simply been forgotten...If someone say today is being sentenced for the same offense yet gets less time due to a change in the laws or whatever ...unless someone presses the point they'll more than likely remain in prison when by all rights they should be out.....there would be less over crowding if the system weren't so slow.....
I have 2 sons in prison one is earning .35-.40c per hour and the other earns .90c....plus ,of course room and board......
Lis&Nif 09-04-2002, 07:31 AM Hey,
This is the only forum that I posted it in because I was not sure if I should put it elsewhere. That is a good idea. Do you think I should? I don't want to come across as too pushy or advertising, but I am putting my heart into this, and persistence is sometimes the only way to get people's attention.
My husband started working finally, and he makes $20 a week. I calculated it and he is at $.35 an hour too. He works in the kitchen, which he does enjoy but the hours are tiring. What do your sons do? You sound like you are very envolved with them, thank God. We need more mothers like you. My mother-in-law has nothing to do with him and that has hurt him tramendously.
Have a good day.
loosielucy 09-04-2002, 02:57 PM Susan...
Sure I'd post it on the Virginia Board...why not. I bet you'd get a lot of signatures being they are also going through the Virginia prison systems....
One of my son's works in the recycling dept.(Garbage disposal for the city...) .35c hour the other an electrician for the prison (I guess they are remodleing or adding onto the prison) .90c an hour....
Thank you for the praise although at times I don't feel i deserve it.....There are here at PTO lots of loving caring Mothers....God Bless all of them...
Don't give up....if you feel it's not right what's going on in Virginia .....I'll pray for you to endure..God Bless ....
