My daughter was sentenced today 5 months at Alderson, and 5 months in a halfway house. Will she serve the full 5 months there, they have her in custody so I don't know when she will be delivered down there or where she is at. Can someone please help me with some info on what to expect. And if she can get into a drug program down there. and what will happen in a half way house, she has no job and she probably won't be able to get a job with having a record. Please all the info would be great, to what might happen next:mad:

I believe that one must have a sentence that is 18mos or longer to be eligible for a drug program. It sounds as if she has a split-sentence, which means that she will do the whole 5 mos. at Alderson.
I didn't go to a halfway house but it is my understanding that the inmates are required to find a job. I hope that you hear from her soon. Good Luck!

Your daughter will not be eligible for the RDAP program because she was sentenced so little time. As far as getting a job in the halfway house you would be surprised how easier it is then expected. The halfway house provides information on jobs that are hiring and places she can go. Fortunetly she was only given such a short sentence. She will be home in no time. Keep your head up.

There are 2 different kind of drug classes that complies with the "COURT ORDERED" judgement. One is a 500 hour drug course called RDAP (Residential Drug Abuse Program), this is the program many "long term inmates" look forward too because this is a class that could give you time off your sentence. The only people eligible for this drug class are inmates that have a 24 month OR more sentence. The other drug class is called "Baby DAP". Its only a 2 week course (may vary in length of time at different prisons) and it is in compliances with what the judges is "recommending" for you to do. If you are sentenced a year your time will really fly by. Just keep your spirits up....the first couple of months might be tough, but just remember you'll be home in no time. Be thankful that your sentence is short. You will meet alot of people that are lifers. Good Luck.

thanks ekanui, I really appreciate the reply. I have a couple of questions maybe you or other members can answer for me. What is the BUS STOP? What is A&O? I'm really nervous as I've never been in trouble before now. I've never been to the city or county jail let alone a Fed Prison! I've been all over this great site trying to learn all I can.My husband is in Elkton FCI will we be able to write to each other? thanks looking forward to a reply.
