hi
my girlfriend is headed to carswell FMC after 5 long months of suffering without medical care. she has a painful condition which requires her to take morphine daily. sometimes episodes of pain make it so she needs her pills immediately and where she was before they would not give them to her. will this change at carswell? do inmates have access to medication 24 hours a day? are doctors and nurses on staff 24 hours? is the emergency care good?

when i look up carswell online there are many horror stories and articles written about neglect, abuse, and rape. are these exaggerations or is it really that bad?

i would appreciate the help if anyone has been or has a loved one who has been to FMC carswell. thank you

a concerned boyfriend

floorman... my mom is at Carswell and she has never said anything about rapes there. The stuff about the medical care... well.... thats another story.

floorman - my sister served a year at Carswell and needed medical treatment the entire time she was there. She has never told us any horror stories about Carswell. I remember browsing the internet and trying to find out anything that I could about Carsell, prior to her surrender date. Sadly to say, i came across the same horror stories and freaked out. She said she did her time and mind your own business and everything was fine - the all treated her very well.

I was at Carswell Medical Facility for 8 months and for the most part everything was fine. Mind your own business and watch who you hang with and trust. As for the rapes, it's not actual rapes. It's inmates who have consensual sex with the guards then holler rape out of anger or the need for attention. The guards are very nice and treat you well unless you are a drama queen then they may ignore you. It really wasn't a horrible place but it is prison. The medical was very slow and takes months sometimes to get your treatment started but you should get any meds you are already on within the first few days.

My wife returned from the Camp at Carswell in March after serving 13 monhts. There was an issue several years ago with one of the officers there however in her time there she had absolutely no problems. donethat is exactly on target from what my wife told me.
